15 an hour 18 hours ago 18 hours ago 18 hours ago CAFETERIA ASSISTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL OVERVIEW Under the supervision of the Food Service Production and Inventory Management Supervisor, the Cafeteria Assistant - Middle School assists in the preparation and serving of school lunches and snack bar items; maintains sanitary kitchen area including cooking facilities and utensils.
Assumes responsibility for supervision of operation in the absence of the Cafeteria Operator Middle School.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES ? Warms food as necessary ? Assists in the preparation and the serving of food ? Maintains working space in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition ? Assists in cleaning working area and equipment ? Sells food and collects money at snack bar ? Helps with the receiving, storing and taking inventories of all food, beverages, and supplies received at the cafeteria site.
? Helps keep accurate detailed daily production records ? Utilizes appropriate safety precautions in the performance of duties to ensure the safety of students and staff ? Helps keep accurate daily inventories of snack bar sales ? Helps keep accurate detailed daily production records ? Keeps a daily log of freezer and refrigerator temperatures ? Helps supervise student helpers ? Performs other related duties as assigned ? Performs such non-related duties, on a temporary basis, as may be required to meet immediate district needs QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of:
? Nutritional and dietary needs of growing children ? Safe kitchen practices ? Methods, tools, equipment, and attachments used in cafeteria work ? Modern cleaning methods, materials, and equipment related to the cafeteria ? National school lunch patterns and meal components ? Basic quantity food preparation ? Food Sanitation and safety principles and practices ? Factors affecting food costs ? Personal and institutional hygiene ? Basic Utensils and equipment ? Appropriate health and safety regulations and safety precautions and procedures Ability to:
? Pass the mandatory California Food Safety Certification Test ? Prepare food ? Operate food service equipment ? Work effectively with occasional interruptions ? Read, understand and carry out specific instructions ? Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency ? Plan and organize duties in order to help operate a highly efficient kitchen ? Apply basic math concepts in order to calculate food quantities ?
