Supervisory Program Specialist

Major duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
Supervise the Community Care staff in the performance of their daily duties Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates Provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters Hears and resolves complaints from employees; refers group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level supervisor or manager; effects minor disciplinary measures such as warnings and reprimands and recommends action to a more senior manager or leader in OCC in more serious cases Distributes and balances workload among employees in accordance with established work flow and experience Monitors the status and progress of work and makes adjustments in accordance with established priorities and performance measures Ensures timely accomplishment of assigned workload and ensures that each employee possesses a sufficient workload Uses interpretive skills to follow a variety of technical manuals and instructions, health care system policies, public laws, legal guides, contract language, and federal regulations Maintains current knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives in order to answer employee questions. Obtains needed information or decisions on problems that arise Maintains current knowledge of procedures, policies, directives and laws pertaining to Community Care and Veteran eligibility Oversees quality and productivity of the Section, independently determining the best course of action to take to resolve deficiencies.Solves complicated problems as they arise in the Section. Refers only the highly irregular, unusual matters to the Program Management Officer for resolution Assists in performing qualitative and quantitative analysis of medical records received from the community Collaborates with his/her direct supervisor and other supervisory and management officials to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate ongoing effectiveness of the Office specific to patient safety/risk management and performance improvement/quality management.518Composes and types various letters, congressional responses, reports, forms, and other appropriate correspondence pertaining to OCC and programs services and in draft format for review by the Program Management Officer Work Schedule:

Specialized
Experience:
For the GS-09 you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort may be required. There may be some walking, bending, climbing associated with on-site inspections, involving prolonged standing, standing and some activity on rough and uneven surfaces. There also may be an occasion to carry items, e.g., files, and boxes containing deliverable supplies. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
